HURUM & JEJU

HURUM Together with Jeju-do

Jeju--Creating a Breathtaking Landscape of Nature
in the Perfect Harmony of Mountain, Rock and Sea

We make our products with the good resources of Jeju.

HURUM--Studying the Ecological Resources of Jeju

Jeju-do has a great number of biological resources, numbering as many as 7,000 different species. HURUM discovers these natural resources and creates reliable products. In addition, the company spreads the excellence of the resources.

Litsea japonica Fruit

HURUM R&D Institute announced that Litsea japonica fruit is good for joint health after three years of joint research with Jeju Technopark. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs verified that it is available as a functional material for health supplements. In fact, Litsea japonica is a Jeju first for land plants to be certified as an ingredient of health supplements.

Tangerine

In October, Jeju is called ‘Gyullimchusaek’. This name comes from the autumnal landscape of the mandarin orange groves. They are found across the island, but it is Seogwipo where they are produced particularly more because of the amount of rainfall and warm weather as Hallasan Mountain blocks the cold northwesterly winds.

HURUM opened the Jeju Orange Factory in Seogwipo and farms mandarin oranges with sincere effort. Under the warm sunlight and fresh breeze, we make sweet pies, savory biscuits, fragrant teas and special tangerine desserts with ripe Jeju mandarin oranges.

Sasa quelpaertensis

Sasa quelpaertensis is the smallest clumping bamboo in the forest. During the Joseon period, it was merely an obstacle in the horses’ path. During a bad year, however, it was a great food for commoners.

The HURUM Advanced Material Research Lab has studied the efficacy of this plant stated in Donguibogam (the Principles and Practice of Eastern Medicine) and Bongchogangmok (Encyclopedia of Herbs) to use it in diverse fields. We get great ferments through the effective ingredient of Sasa quelpaertensis and use them as the main ingredients of our products.
